STORY

Sigurd ( Old Norse : Sigurðr; also known in German as Siegfried) is a legendary hero of Norse mythology and a central character in the Volga Saga . The first depictions of his legend come from seven runestones from Sweden . [1]

Like Siegfried, he is the hero of Nibelungenlied , and of Richard Wagner's Siegfried and Götterdämmerung operas. The name Sigurðr is not the same as the German Siegfried. The Old Norse version would be Sigruþr, a form that appears in Ramsund's petroglyph . [2] Note that all variations of the name have the prefix "Sig", which means victory.

Grani was a mystical horse son of Odin's horse, Sleipnir.
